Lately I have been featuring summer veggies since it's summer and they are looking quite Sexie this season. And the green bean is no exception. Filled with vitamin C, vitamin K, potassium, and lots of antioxidants, these cool beans will give you one hot summer! And with this recipe, you'll be a-glazed at how flavorful they can be!
Glaze Into My Eyes Green Beans
2 cups green beans (ends trimmed)
5 "spanked" garlic cloves (Spanked? What? Click here)
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp molasses
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1 tbsp red pepper flakes
1 tbsp fresh cilantro minced
2 tsp sesame oil
Set your green beans in a steamer basket for some veggie sauna action. But only let them sweat for a few minutes. You want them to stay a little tight and firm. Five minutes should be plenty of time for steaming.
In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, molasses, lemon juice, red pepper flakes, cilantro, and sesame oil. And make sure to properly "spank" that naughty garlic!
Now heat up your pan on high. Dry saute your spanked garlic for a minute or two so the cloves are looking tanned. Pour your a-glazing sauce into the pan and let it simmer and reduce to a more syrupy consistency. This probably takes a minute or two. Finally, grab your lightly steamed green beans cause they are going down in a glaze of glory! Add them to the pan and toss them in the thick glaze sauce until well coated and heated.
Now invite over your summer flame to taste your sweet but spicy beans.
