There's a new diet game that my friends have been successfully playing called The Game On Diet. I decided to check it out and try it for a month. Things get complicated because it's not really written for Sexie vegans like myself so there were a few judgement calls I needed to make about some tasty things I consume. (Where's kombucha listed in this thing?)
Basically you are competing to get as many points as possible over the month to win a predetermined prize. And everything has a point value. You must eat 5 small meals a day within 2-4 hours of each other. That equals 30 points a day. You must drink 3 liters of water a day for 10 points. If you exercise for 20 minutes you get 20 points. Sleeping for 7 hours is 15 points. Now you do get 1 day off from all the rules and 1 meal off to eat naughty things (Tater tots!!) but I'll talk about that on another day.
I decided that the easiest way to consume 5 healthy meals a day with my busy schedule is to just eat the same 5 meals over the course of my first week. And being the Sexie foodie that I am I knew my meals needed to vary and most of all be suuuuuper tasty! So this is my first discovery:
A TEMPEH BACON BLTA IS THE BEST BREAKFAST SANDWICH IN THE HISTORY OF BREAKFAST SANDWICHES!!!!
This sandwich has it all: tempeh "bacon" and english muffin protein, spinach and tomato antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory avocado. It is smokey and sweet. Creamy and crunchy. I want it in my mouth. Plus it's under 300 calories with 13.5 grams of protein and only 9.25 grams of fat. Healthy fat. Mornings have never looked so Sexie.
Tantalizing TLTA
1 whole wheat (Or GF) english muffin
4 strips of tempeh* bacon (I use the Tofurky brand)
1/2 tomato, sliced
1/4 avocado
A few spinach leaves
salt and pepper
(Optional: Add 1 tbsp Veganaise which will bring the calories to 380 and fat to 18.25 grams but ups the tasty factor)
If you have a medium sized toaster oven this is going to be a piece of Sexie cake. Put the tempeh strips on a small amount of tin foil. Put the tin foil and your english muffin halves in the toaster oven and toast those babies. When they are done, pile all your ingredients on one english muffin, add salt and pepper to taste, and then let the other english muffin squeeze on top. Wrap them in a napkin blanket to keep everyone together and then PUT THEM IN YOUR MOUTH!
