I recently bought a bunch of lemons before I was gifted a good dozen that were hand-picked from a neighborhood tree. Well, when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade...Sexie lemonade.
Lemonade is super easy and super tasty when you make it from scratch. Those kids with the lemonade stand know they have a good thing. And we are about to make it a better thing. A Sexie thang!
Get ready to pucker up cause we're gonna kiss these lemons with some fresh herbs. I experimented with four Sexie flavors but you're creative; I'm sure you can suggest something stimulating to try.
First come into the kitchen, Sugar, cause I'm feeling sweet on you. We start by making a simple syrup. You want to add 1 part sugar to 1 part water in a saucepan. Turn up the heat and watch the sugar just melt into the water. And here's where things get interesting: Add some mint sprigs for minty-fresh syrup, add basil for some peppery pep, add thyme for some earthiness, or chop up some jalapenos to really spice things up! Let them simmer for a couple minutes to get the flavor going, then turn off the heat and let your syrup cool down.
Now get your hands on some curvy lemons and give them a squeeze. About 5-6 regular sized lemons will make about a cup of lemon juice. Once your syrup has chilled out, grab a pitcher. Combine 1 part lemon juice, 1 part syrup, and 3 parts water. Stir that around and adjust according to your tastes. A little more syrup if you're feeling sweet, a little more juice if you're feeling sassy, or a little more water if you're feeling mellow. Then add some ice, grab a hot friend, and cool off.
