Vinaigrettes have always baffled me mostly because I'm a vinegar fiend. Usually, I add a simple splash of balsamic vinegar or a squeeze of fresh lemon juice to my Sexie salads and call it a day. But I was recently inspired to seek the key to this mysterious liquid and now I'm drenched in information. So grab some oil and vinegar and let's get our Sexie Veggies wet!
Here are the basics of what you need: oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper. That's it! Pair a smooth oil with a sassy vinegar, sprinkle them with sea salt and fresh cracked pepper and you've got a power shower for your Sexie Veggies.
Shhh, here's the secret: to really tap into the vinaigrette's sweet spot use 3 parts oil to 1 part vinegar. Just follow that trick and your vinaigrette is always sure to please.
So now that you know the basics, let's get experimental. Have a go at different vinegars like balsamic, raspberry, or rice vinegar. Explore exotic oils like walnut, sesame seed, or macadamia nut.
Then you can play with accessories for your vinaigrette. Chopped garlic, shallots, or herbs will really spice things up. Adding citrus juice will make that vinaigrette a little tart. And adding Dijon mustard, cholesterol-free mayo, or agave nectar will get it nice and thick.
My vinaigrette fantasies involve a curvy avocado and some cilantro love bites. Here's an account of my escapades:
