We are in the middle of Spring and I hope all of you are getting your daily dose of Sexie with the abundance of beautiful Spring veggies. Asparagus, Carrots, Peas, & sweet Strawberries want to make you feel alive and vibrant! But while you are frolicking through the Spring, I wanted to highlight a couple vitamins that you'll want to invite on your adventures: Vitamin D and Vitamin B12.
Vitamin D
Vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium, builds a strong immune system, and helps protect you from many forms of cancer. Your body makes vitamin D when the ultraviolet rays from the sun touch your non-sunscreened skin. And all you need is 15-20 minutes of sun basking a day. Most Americans are low in vitamin D because we are spending our days at our desks or slathering on tons of sunscreen. I have even tested deficient in D a few times and I live in sunny Southern California! Being deficient in vitamin D is bad news bears so you'll want to take supplements if you don't get regular exposure or if you live north of 37 degrees latitude where sun exposure isn't enough in the winter to make your daily dose of D. Go with 2,000-4,000 IU of vitamin D2 a day to feel that inner glow. However, it's waaay more fun to take a daily sun shower in nature if you can. I highly recommend hill-rolling for maximum fun effect.
Vitamin B12
Vitamin B12 keeps your blood and nervous system healthy. It's not made by plants or animals but by bacteria found in water and soil that hasn't been contaminated or chlorinated. Back in the day before hygiene, traces of B12 probably ended up on our Sexiness but this is not true anymore. Since our bodies don't make B12 and we aren't likely to get it from our Sexie Veggies, this is one vitamin you'll need to get through supplements or by eating fortified foods. Luckily the amount we need is crazy small - only 2.4 micrograms a day. But again, being deficient is bad news bears so give that B12 a little tongue with a sublingual lozenge of methylcobalamin B12 for the best absorption into that Sexie body of yours.
Those vitamins should put a little spring into your Spring!
