Last night I had the rare treat of enjoying a Sexie meal NOT made by me. I spend a lot of time making food for others so I especially appreciate the time and thought invested when someone provides me with some Sexie. And boy was it Sexie!
Just look at all those colors and textures and the way it's Sexie flesh glistens in the light. Those velvety portobellos alone could slay a girl! This grilled veggie salad was such a divine mixture of cooked and raw veggies that in my enraptured state I was unable to distinguish one leafy green from the next. I ravenously consumed all the veggies before I was slyly informed...that I just ate kale.
I ate kale and I liked it!
How? What did this devious wizard do to that hideous leafy beast to make it not just palatable but delicious? This must be the effect of some kind of spell. Was that squash laced with Love Potion #9?
It turns out what I was enjoying was little bitty baby kale. Aw, baby kale. Like all things baby, it's smaller, softer, and gentler than it's tough, bitter elder. And oh baby was it good! Thanks to the smooth operation of one handsome kale peddler my salads will forever be Sexier.
So how can you get some baby kale in your life? Here are a few Sexie suggestions to get you started:
This Baby Kale Strawberry Salad from Greg Henry of Sippity Sup is perfect for the spring and summer months.
The Garlic Lemon Kale Salad by The Vegan 8 is high in protein with a touch of sweet.
And for a little Asian flavor, try the Spicy Soba Noodles with Baby Kale from John Eric of The Vegan Menu.
Mmm with all these delicious, Sexie options you'll be saying "Hit me Baby Kale, one more time."
